Steven J. Mally Memorial Golf Outing
Six years ago this week I lost my best friend in a car accident; Steve was driving and I was in the back seat. I’m still not ready to fully talk about that night, maybe someday. But I’m writing to today to ask for your support.
Steve was one of those people that, even in high school, transcended cliques. Everyone knew him, everyone loved him, and everyone considering him a confidante. We started the Steven J. Mally Memorial Foundation to bring together our community and help people - something that came naturally to my friend.
This Wednesday, at the Stonebridge Golf Course on Long Island, we’re holding the 5th Annual SJM Memorial Golf Outing. Every year we give scholarships to graduating seniors from our alma mater, Harborfields High School, to students who shared his passion for music, sports, and literature (he was in the process of getting his masters - about to become an English teacher).
We’ve got spots for golf open this Wednesday. It’s a shotgun start at 1:00 pm. If you play golf, if you’re free Wednesday, if you know me and want to help, please do.
It’s $150 for a round of golf and dinner afterwards. If you can’t make it out that day but still want to donate, any dollar amount would be appreciated. Even if it’s $5 or $10, seriously, I will be forever grateful. You can donate whatever amount you’d like here. If you want more information about Wednesday’s outing, email me.
I don’t normally ask, but please reblog this post and help me spread the word. We’ve all faced tragedies in our lives, I know I’m not unique in that respect. I can’t bring my friend back, but I can keep the memory of him alive through efforts like this.
Thanks.
